A permissioning system once locked away on private servers is now open for anyone to inspect—that's the core of Matter Labs' latest move. The ZKsync development team announced it's open-sourcing the permissioning engine of Prividium, its distributed ledger technology (DLT) platform designed specifically for financial institutions.
The permissioning engine governs who can see what and who can do what—often the first thing banks and regulators scrutinize before adopting blockchain technology. By laying this logic bare instead of keeping it as a trade secret, Matter Labs is letting potential clients and researchers examine the actual access-control code firsthand, rather than simply taking the company's word for it.
