Screen sharing might sound like an ordinary feature, but in Meta AI's new Mac desktop app, the intent is clear: let the assistant directly "see" the post or ad draft a user is editing, then offer suggestions based on what's actually on screen, rather than guessing back and forth from text descriptions.
This standalone desktop app from Meta targets businesses and creators on Facebook and Instagram. Compared to the existing web and mobile versions, the Mac app adds two practical capabilities: screen sharing, which lets Meta AI offer concrete revision suggestions on posts or ad content a user is actively working on; and Google Workspace integration, which allows users with professional accounts to import work files like documents and spreadsheets, giving the AI more context to work with when responding.

In its official blog post, Meta noted that the system draws on data only Meta itself has access to: "You can ask Meta AI questions about your business and get answers based on your own account engagement and ad performance, among other internal information," the company wrote. "Beyond your own account, you can also get public insights into how similar brands are running their business on Meta's platforms." In other words, this isn't just a general-purpose chatbot—it's bundling ad dashboard analytics tools directly into Meta AI.
This update is part of a broader recent push by Meta to roll out AI tools aimed at small business owners, following the company's earlier launch of an AI coding agent priced below comparable products. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has said he hopes the company's AI agents will eventually be able to "run your entire business."
The Meta AI desktop app for Mac is currently available for free, but Meta has recently begun rolling out usage limits on advanced AI features, meaning unlocking more capabilities will require a Meta One subscription.
