Ditching Master & Dynamic, Neurable Goes Solo on Its Latest Brain-Reading Headphones

Neurable has launched its first independently designed brain-sensing headphones, the Neurable One, priced at $499. The headphones feature built-in EEG tracking for focus and brain age, paired with 40mm beryllium drivers and six-microphone noise cancellation.

Ditching Master & Dynamic, Neurable Goes Solo on Its Latest Brain-Reading Headphones

In 2024, Neurable broke into the high-end headphone market through its collaboration with Master & Dynamic on the MW75 Neuro, winning over consumers with an EEG sensor tucked inside the ear cups that promised headphones could read your brainwaves. Two years later, the brain-computer interface company has decided to go it alone, launching its third product, the Neurable One, entirely on its own.

The core functionality carries over from the previous two generations. Once you put on the headphones and activate EEG tracking, it monitors your brainwaves and focus levels throughout the workday, figuring out when you're performing at your best and when it's time to take a break—helping you avoid pushing through until your mental energy is completely drained. The system also reports a metric called Alpha Peak Frequency, which Neurable defines as a broader indicator of cognitive ability.

The rest of the data follows a familiar wearable-device playbook, except instead of heart rate and calories burned, it's measuring your brain. The Neurable One reports your brain age, cognitive reaction speed, and how the previous night's sleep quality affects your brain performance the following day. Neurable also has a partnership with gaming brand HyperX—Engadget writer Daniel Cooper tried it out this past January and found that staying in a calmer brainwave state improved his aiming accuracy in first-person shooter games.

On the hardware side, the Neurable One is equipped with 40mm beryllium drivers, paired with six microphones for active noise cancellation, and supports a transparency mode for ambient sound. Battery life reaches 22 hours with EEG tracking turned off, but drops to just 12 hours once brainwave monitoring is enabled—still enough to get most office workers through a full day.

The Neurable One is available now, priced at $499.
