13 minutes, eight song snippets, one road from Jakarta to Yogyakarta. Instead of dropping singles one by one to tease their new album, no na condensed the entire "island girl" into a single short film, letting listeners flip through it like a '90s mixtape — hearing pieces of the whole journey in one sitting.

The short film, titled "speaker freaker (the long song)," features snippets of eight songs, including the already-released "rollerblade" and "work." It was shot across Indonesia's capital Jakarta and the ancient city of Yogyakarta, with visuals spanning coastlines and bustling city streets. The music itself carries a distinctly millennial flavor, with Detroit-style ghettotech beats layered under traditional Indonesian gamelan percussion — the clearest sonic coordinates we've gotten from the album so far.

"'speaker freaker (the long song)' is our homage to '90s and early 2000s mixtape culture," no na told The FADER via email. "We loved the idea of taking people through the different songs on 'island girl' like they're listening to a mixtape, giving them a taste before the album officially drops."

The group described the film as the product of an imagined "island girl road trip." "We shot in Jakarta and Yogyakarta, moving through different places to show the many faces of Indonesia," they said. "Bringing Indonesian pride into the visual world of this album and sharing where we're from — that mattered a lot to us."

Made up of Baila, Christy, Esther, and Shaz, no na has been on the rise since their "work" music video went viral this past January, increasingly seen as a leading act in the wave of new girl groups they themselves call "Island Pop." "More than anything, we wanted 'island girl' to open with something that feels fun and a little unexpected," they said. "Instead of slowly teasing it song by song, 'speaker freaker (the long song)' feels more like something no na would do — it's our way of welcoming people into our world."

"island girl" drops September 18 via 88rising, and pre-orders and pre-saves are available now.
