Roland's New York Flagship Opens in October, First Room Dedicated Entirely to the TR-808
Roland is opening its first standalone store in the US in Manhattan's Meatpacking District, a 9,000-square-foot space that greets visitors with the TR-808 as its very first stop. The invite-only opening is set for October 10.
The first room you walk into isn't a checkout counter or a new product display—it's an entire space dedicated to the TR-808 Rhythm Composer. That's the first impression Roland's first standalone store in the US will leave on visitors, setting the tone for the whole 9,000-square-foot flagship with a drum machine from the 1980s.
Roland Store New York City will be located at 414 West 14th Street in Manhattan's Meatpacking District, with the opening slated for early October 2026 and an invite-only launch event set for Saturday, October 10. This marks Roland's first physical flagship store in the US market, and the third store of its kind globally, following locations in London and Tokyo.
Beyond the TR-808 exhibit, the store is divided into sections by instrument type: piano, drums, guitar, synthesizers, DJ and electronic dance music gear, and a dedicated Roland Cloud area. Notable details include a grand piano showroom, the only dedicated DW drums display space in the entire US, and a corner dubbed "BOSS Cavern," specifically curated for BOSS pedals and amps.
One standout feature is an AI system called Roland Soundscapes, which generates real-time ambient music for the store, shifting based on visitor movement, MIDI input, the time of day, and even the weather outside. That means walking into the store at different times on the same day could sound completely different.
As for operations, the store will offer free 30-minute workshops covering piano, drums, synthesizers, BOSS gear, DJ equipment, and Roland Cloud, along with one-on-one product demos bookable with Roland experts. Bookings will open through the store's official website in October. After launch, the New York location will join the London and Tokyo flagships in operating seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
