A story that wraps heavy themes in a deceptively cute art style, making readers laugh right before making them cry — that contrast is now heading to theaters. TBS Animation's official YouTube channel has announced that the "Tacopi's Original Sin" (タコピーの原罪) movie has been officially titled "Tacopi's Original Sin -Thank You, See You Tomorrow-," confirmed for release in Japan on November 27, 2026.
Created by Taizan5, whose short-run serialization on Shonen Jump+ sparked widespread discussion, the story follows an alien creature named Tacopi who comes to Earth to spread happiness, only to encounter a perpetually gloomy elementary schooler named Shizuka Kuze. The original manga ran from late 2021 through 2022, and despite its short length, it repeatedly delivers gut-punch twists woven through themes of school bullying, family dysfunction, and the tangled emotions between children. The 2025 anime adaptation stayed true to that compact structure, telling the entire story in just 6 episodes.
According to the official announcement, the film is not a full remake but rather a re-edit based on the 2025 6-episode anime, with entirely new scenes not seen in the TV version added in. Exactly which character details or story gaps the new footage will fill in has yet to be revealed.
