A Yeezy shoebox without the adidas three stripes showing up on JD Sports shelves—this alone marks one of the most significant retail moves for Ye since splitting from adidas back in 2022. According to Sneaker Freaker, JD Sports began selling multiple YS-01 colorways on August 13, alongside black versions of the YS-02, BL-01, AQ-01, and HL-02. This drop is currently US-only, and most colorways have already sold out shortly after release.

Before the adidas split, Yeezy was operating at serious scale. Per Business of Fashion, Yeezy generated nearly $1.7 billion in sales for adidas in 2021 alone. In 2022, the brand's valuation was estimated at anywhere between $3.2 billion and $4.7 billion, with plans alongside GAP to hit $1 billion in annual sales within a few years. When both adidas and GAP cut ties with Ye in 2022, that entire infrastructure vanished overnight, leaving Ye to run the brand independently through YZY.com, with sales concentrated almost entirely in direct-to-consumer channels.

That's what makes this JD Sports drop worth watching—it's one of the rare instances since Yeezy went independent where the brand has stepped outside its own site and into a mainstream retail chain. As for whether this expands beyond the US, Sneaker Freaker's report suggests a global rollout is likely down the line, though nothing's been officially confirmed yet.

Around the same time, the YZY SL-01 slide—part of Ye's independent lineup—added white and gray colorways to go with the original black version, keeping the same minimalist one-piece upper, low-cut silhouette, and ribbed outsole. Priced at just $20, it's one of the most affordable options in Yeezy's independent catalog right now.

For now, the Yeezy styles at JD Sports are only available at US stores and on the US site, with no word yet on additional markets or upcoming colorways.
