Audemars Piguet × Serena Williams Royal Oak: reading the 38 mm white ceramic watch, pink mother-of-pearl and Calibre 6401

Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph created with Serena Williams brings the sports watch’s geometric outline into another palette through a 38 mm white ceramic exterior and pink mother-of-pearl dial. Reference 26450CB.OO.1356CB.02 is limited to 500 pieces and houses Calibre 6401. Its case finishing, the way the three counters are read and the difference between ceramic bracelet and rubber strap provide useful starting points for understanding the design.

How does white ceramic preserve the Royal Oak’s edges?

White ceramic extends from the case into the integrated bracelet, with the crown and chronograph pushers also in matching ceramic. Its 38 mm diameter and 11.1 mm thickness establish concrete proportions, although its appearance on the wrist also depends on the octagonal bezel, the bracelet’s extension and wrist size. Alternating satin brushing and chamfering allow different reflections to reveal the Royal Oak’s architectural outline even in white material.

Pink-tinted mother-of-pearl introduces irregular iridescent layers, coordinated with tone-on-tone counters. An easily overlooked distinction is the metal: the hands are 18-carat white gold, while the hour markers are rhodium-toned 18-carat pink gold with luminescent material. Their silvery appearance does not make them all white gold. The pink date window between 4 and 5 o’clock also integrates the date display into the palette.

Calibre 6401: distinguish what the counters measure

Calibre 6401 is an in-house integrated selfwinding chronograph movement with 350 components, 44 jewels, a 55-hour power reserve and a frequency of 4 Hz. It uses a column wheel and patented vertical-clutch system. The brand says the simplified clutch reduces components to improve activation and reliability. This describes the mechanism’s design direction; the actual feel of the pushers still requires hands-on operation rather than a conclusion from specifications alone.

The counter at 3 o’clock records elapsed hours and the one at 9 o’clock elapsed minutes, while the small seconds at 6 o’clock runs continuously. The three therefore do not all measure the same kind of time. The instant-jump date sits between 4 and 5 o’clock. Separating ordinary timekeeping, accumulated chronograph time and the date helps explain the layout, without treating every hand as a conventional seconds hand.

White bracelet and pink strap: two ways to extend the outline

Alongside the integrated white ceramic bracelet, the watch includes a pink rubber strap with white ceramic studs and a titanium AP folding clasp. The bracelet continues the white lines from the case around the wrist, while the rubber strap extends the pink colour outwards. A transparent sapphire caseback reveals the 22-carat pink gold oscillating weight, with “Limited Edition” engraved on its titanium frame. Water resistance is listed at 50 metres. These details and the bracelet configuration should be checked against this specific reference.

The first Royal Oak chronograph arrived in 1997 for the collection’s 25th anniversary. This collaboration continues that sporting chronograph lineage while expressing Serena’s relationship of more than a decade with the brand. The official campaign also features Teyana Taylor and J Balvin discussing their individual paths and connections with supporters. For the watch itself, materials, dimensions and display structure are the useful comparison points; consult brand boutiques for actual allocations and local quotations.
