Flavors from Sicily's eastern coast aren't exactly common on Italian tables in Hong Kong. Around Messina, Taormina, Catania, and Syracuse, crudo is a home-style staple, and Ask for Alonzo's new limited menu opens with a yellowtail crudo—raw fish drizzled with Sicilian lemon, its crispness and acidity waking up the palate right from the start.
This three-course menu, dubbed Taste of Sicily, is available now through November 15 at HK$358 per person, and can be enjoyed at all five Ask for Alonzo locations across Hong Kong.
The main course is rigatoni alla norma, prepared with eggplant deliberately handled two ways: part fried until crisp, part simmered soft in tomato, then paired with ricotta salata, basil, and olive oil, finished with a lingering kick of Italian chili. This dish is one of Sicily's most classic home-style recipes, and it's the centerpiece of the whole menu.
For those who want to add on, Sicilian octopus is available as an extra (+HK$88). Dessert wraps things up with an olive oil orange cake, served with Sicilian olive oil, orange syrup, and a layer of mascarpone to balance out the sweetness.
On the drinks side, the menu offers Sicilian lemonade (HK$48), gazzosa rossa sparkling drink (HK$68), and an averna sour (HK$88).
Ask for Alonzo operates multiple locations across Hong Kong, and this limited menu is available through November 15.
