Hugh Jackman played a video he'd recorded himself at D23, and the message was blunt: he wanted to know if he could join Avengers: Doomsday. Wolverine has already made his comeback in Deadpool & Wolverine, yet here he was still having to plead his case to Marvel this way—the whole bit was absurd and funny in equal measure. Deadpool didn't cut him any slack, firing back with "Follow the fucking script," a line that went viral online before the actual trailer even dropped.
After that bit set the stage, D23 rolled out the official new trailer. It opens with Robert Downey Jr.'s Victor von Doom seated on his throne, Invisible Woman's narration laid over the visuals. The scene then cuts to a city reduced to rubble, where Pedro Pascal's Mister Fantastic confronts Victor directly: "Did you do this?" The line immediately casts Doctor Doom as the villain. Chris Hemsworth's Thor squares off against Doctor Doom in a direct clash, continuing footage already teased in the previous trailer.
Chris Evans' Steve Rogers shows up this time carrying an infant, though the trailer gives no context for what's going on there. In the same sequence, Ian McKellen's Magneto, James Marsden's Cyclops, and Channing Tatum's Gambit all make appearances—essentially pulling the classic X-Men lineup straight into the Avengers' multiverse.
The trailer closes on a full-on Sentinel robot army. In the X-Men comics, these towering machines exist to track down, capture, and even eliminate mutants, and the live-action version most burned into fans' memories is the evolving Sentinel from X-Men: Days of Future Past, the one that nearly wiped mutantkind off the map entirely. Bringing the Sentinels into the same frame as Doctor Doom and the classic X-Men is basically smashing together timelines that used to run completely separate.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in Taiwan on December 16, 2026.
