It was the most unusual segment of his appearance on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon': host Jimmy Fallon devised a "musical interview" where every question and answer had to be sung. Flowers crooned, "We've got some titles floating around," before half-jokingly adding that even if he knew the final album title, publicists would stop him from revealing it — "it's still too early."
Flowers took the stage on the night of September 22, primarily to perform "An American Dream," a country-flavored single off his third solo album, 'Thrasher.' The album, released just last month, features a lineup of veteran Nashville musicians, including guitarist David Rawlings, pedal steel player Bruce Bouton, and harmonica player Charlie McCoy — whose playing appears on four of Bob Dylan's classic Nashville-era albums. Flowers told Fallon that recording sessions often kicked off with musicians swapping stories, with McCoy recounting tales of working with Dylan, Roy Orbison, Garth Brooks, and Waylon Jennings.
