No Spotify, no Apple Music, just 1,500 double vinyl copies—Dove Ellis has chosen the least convenient format possible to release the live recording of his sold-out show at London's Alexandra Palace Theatre earlier this year. The performance, which earned a four-and-a-half-star review from NME praising his "mesmerizing voice," has now been made into an album titled *Live At Alexandra Palace Theatre*, set for release on November 13, with all proceeds going to War Child, the charity dedicated to helping children affected by conflict.
Dove Ellis is an Irish indie folk singer-songwriter now based in Manchester, who rose to prominence this year with his Mercury Prize-nominated debut album *Blizzard*. The thousand-strong crowd show was built largely around tracks from *Blizzard*, but Ellis also debuted five previously unreleased songs during the set—"The Royal Brown Hole," "Two Brothers Smoking," "It Barks," "Marooning," and "Nest Amongst Stars"—along with a cover of Gillian Welch's "April The 14th, Part 1." NME's review noted that even though the audience knew *Blizzard* inside out, Ellis's setlist was still full of surprises, at one point plunging the entire room into a silence that was "equal parts spellbound and bewildered."
