Fontaines D.C. Land First-Ever Feature Collab—And It's Rosalía, Not the Lana Del Rey Grian Chatten Can't Stop Talking About
Fontaines D.C. have revealed the full tracklist for their fifth album, "Dopamine Chamber." Frontman Grian Chatten has spent years saying he wants to work with Lana Del Rey, but the band's first-ever guest feature went to Rosalía instead. The album drops October 16.
Grian Chatten has said more than once that he'd love to collaborate with Lana Del Rey. As it turns out, Fontaines D.C.'s first-ever guest vocalist is Rosalía.
The Dublin band have unveiled the full 11-track listing for their fifth album, "Dopamine Chamber." Track 8, "Where Is Gone?," is credited "with ROSALÍA" — marking the first time in the band's history that another artist's voice appears on one of their records. The full tracklist runs: "Six Shot Morning," "Marianne," "Mimesis," "Happy For You," "Demolition," "Tongue," "One Man," "Where Is Gone?" (feat. Rosalía), "You Miss Me," "Japan," "Intimate." "Marianne" is the already-released lead single, while "Six Shot Morning" and "Happy For You" are tracks fans have already heard previewed at the band's recent live shows.
Sliding from "60% humanity" to "60% corrosion"
"Dopamine Chamber" follows 2024's Mercury Prize-nominated "Romance." Officially, the new record is described as sonically darker and more synthetic, searching for pockets of pleasure amid the threats of digital life and AI in a world that's "tipping towards collapse."
"The album itself is a dopamine chamber," says Chatten. "You walk in, and we test all these mind-altering, mood-altering pieces of music on you." He describes "Romance" as roughly "60% humanity, 40% eroded by automation," while this new record flips that ratio — "more like 60% corrosion, where the mask has grown deeper into the face. I think there's more power in leaving hope outside and being honest about the ugliness. This one needed to feel like a catastrophic warning." He also mentioned traveling to Venice, Vienna, and Sicily this time in search of lyrical inspiration. Bassist Conor 'Deego' Deegan approached it from a thematic angle: "Our albums have always been chasing the meaning of a place. First it was Dublin, then it was leaving Dublin, then trying to find romance somewhere else. The question on this one becomes: where do you escape to?"
The album arrives October 16, followed by an arena tour across the UK and Europe. In 2027, the band will also join Little Simz and Viagra Boys for a run of stadium and outdoor shows. This all comes on the heels of a busy summer for Fontaines D.C., who headlined Reading & Leeds and Electric Picnic for the first time this year — with NME awarding their Reading headline set four and a half stars, calling it "a deserved coronation from the band of our time."
