A year of 5TB cloud storage plus a health-tracking service that hooks into Fitbit—these perks might actually be more tempting than Gemini itself. Google's latest promo lets eligible US college students use AI Pro free for a year, a subscription that normally runs $20 a month, or $200 a year.
As the name suggests, AI Pro is a subscription plan built around Gemini. Students who sign up get four times the usual Gemini usage limits, access to the agentic platform Spark, and the ability to call Gemini features directly within Workspace apps like Gmail and Docs. On top of that, the plan includes 5TB of cloud storage and a Google Health Premium subscription, which integrates with Fitbit and other health-tracking devices.
According to Engadget, the motive behind this free offer is likely to boost Gemini's usage numbers, giving Google fodder for future press releases touting subscriber growth. Even so, for students who aren't particularly into AI tools, it's still not a bad deal—5TB of storage and a health service subscription carry real value on their own.
Google is also offering a bundle that pairs AI Pro with YouTube Premium for just $9 a month. For students who already need a music streaming service, this is a fairly low-cost combo option.
That said, deals like this all share a common catch: once the promotional period ends, they auto-renew at full price. In other words, after enjoying a year of free AI Pro and generous cloud storage, be sure to set a reminder and cancel before the deadline—otherwise you'll be charged the full rate automatically. This could be especially tricky for users who've already filled up their 5TB with data, making them more hesitant to give up the service.
What Students Outside the US Get
For college students outside the US, Google is offering a free year of Google AI Plus, a scaled-down subscription plan normally priced at $5 a month. It includes access to Gemini Omni, double the usual usage limits, and 400GB of cloud storage.
