Liberaiders’ First Sheepskin Jacket Is Here: ¥79,200 Washed Leather in a Type II Shape
The WASHED LEATHER JACKET replaces denim with vegetable-tanned, washed sheepskin. Black and blue come in S–XL, with seams, pockets and aged surfaces worth comparing.
What happens when familiar denim-jacket lines move into leather? Japanese label Liberaiders has released its first sheepskin WASHED LEATHER JACKET at ¥79,200 through its official online store and stockists across Japan. Based on the classic Type II denim jacket, it comes in black and blue across S, M, L and XL. The late-October announcement concerns an available product, rather than a concept with no release date.
Denim structure remains while sheepskin changes the material
The jacket retains a turn-down collar, front buttons and clear horizontal divisions, with lower pockets and side seams providing reference points across a generous body. On black, shine follows shoulders and sleeve creases; blue makes differences along seams and edges easier to see. The shape borrows workwear vocabulary, but the surface no longer has denim's fibrous character.

Sheepskin is vegetable-tanned and washed to soften its inherent stiffness and create a vintage-like impression. This is a finish and texture established in production, rather than evidence that the garment was reconstructed from used clothing or worn for many years. Understanding that distinction separates processing effects from actual secondhand wear.
Black and blue offer more than one surface recolored
The black version maintains lower contrast across large areas, with aged edges gradually revealing the collar, cuffs and hem. Blue makes seams and creases more visible and more readily recalls the original denim reference. Compare how light lands on the leather when viewing both, beyond choosing from a color swatch alone.
Campaign outfits pair blue leather with camouflage bottoms and layer black over a pale purple hoodie. The first gives more visual information to the lower body; the second concentrates color at the neckline. They help explain the jacket's role within an outfit without establishing that every photographed garment is sold as part of the same set.

Sizing and care return to the leather product itself
Beijing-born director Mei Yong leads Liberaiders through themes including military clothing, travel, rock music and photography, against a background of 1990s street culture. This jacket translates workwear and a worn-in impression into material choices. Check chest width, shoulders, sleeve length and inner-layer thickness; an S–XL offering does not guarantee the same fit as an existing denim jacket in the same size.
Consult the Liberaiders official website for products, stock and care. A softer washed-leather appearance does not mean cotton-denim washing methods apply. The useful comparison is how material replacement recombines weight, shine and creases within a familiar shape. Establishing differences between black and blue, together with layering needs, helps determine its place in everyday dressing.
