MINI’s Korean JCW Garage turns servicing into a full-size model-box experience

At MINI’s Bundang Service Center, JCW Garage combines a 1:1 model-box facade, red-and-black lighting, a performance-parts wall and a green lounge. June plans and October photographs show different stages of the project.

MINI’s Korean JCW Garage turns servicing into a full-size model-box experience

MINI Korea’s JCW Garage places the time owners spend waiting for maintenance inside a space resembling an oversized model-car box. Located within the MINI Bundang Service Center operated by Kolon Motors in Bundang District, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, the dedicated area combines JCW service bays, an owner lounge and performance-parts displays. A report published on October 27 provides concrete views of its red-and-black facade and interior arrangement, offering a reference for both automotive culture and branded spatial design.

The project already appeared in BMW Group Korea’s June 26 Busan mobility-show press release, which then targeted a July launch. October’s report describes the established space and its services. Today’s publication date therefore should not be treated as its precise opening date. The official June planning image and the current report’s photographs also serve different purposes: the former presents an early concept, while the latter show the completed facade, vehicle and parts wall. They document different stages rather than the same moment.

An official rendering shows the JCW Garage concept with a black-and-red model-box facade, checkered graphics and a vehicle.

A facade that puts a full-size car inside a model box

In the photograph, a dark volume surrounds the vehicle, with a glowing red outline turning around the entrance and “1:1 SCALE” lettering on the facade. The car resembles a collectible whose box has been opened, now large enough to drive into and out of. Model packaging normally works at tabletop scale; here, the full vehicle and an opening large enough for people turn it into a recognizable brand entrance. Lettering, opening proportions and light lines organize the view more directly than a sign alone.

Black and red continue into the service area, where a large LED screen shows MINI films and JCW Performance Parts are displayed at the side. The photograph shows wheels and other accessories arranged on a grid; the vehicle’s details and the parts wall direct attention from the complete car to its components. The lounge uses the brand’s signature green wall and displays imagery of JCW history and motorsport, using a different color to distinguish the atmosphere of vehicle work from that of the owners’ waiting area.

Wheels and assorted accessories are arranged on a black grid beside the car’s front, below JCW Performance Parts lettering.

How do specialist servicing and styling consultations work together?

JCW Garage has dedicated maintenance space and an owner lounge, with JCW-certified specialist technicians and dedicated service advisors providing maintenance and styling consultations. The parts display is thus connected to practical service: owners can bring exterior details that interest them into a discussion and check which options suit their specific model. Installation, pricing and appointments must be confirmed with the service center; a wall display does not establish that every item fits every vehicle.

The official address of the BMW and MINI Bundang Service Center is 20, Saemaeul-ro 51beon-gil, Bundang-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province; its telephone number is 031-711-7401. Published center hours are weekdays 9:00–18:00 and Saturdays 9:00–13:00, with Sunday and public-holiday closure. These are the service center’s hours. For JCW consultation or maintenance, use Kolon Motors’ official service-center information to confirm appointments and arrangements for the dedicated service.

Continuing JCW’s racing story through space

JCW carries John Cooper’s name, with a history reaching back to the 1961 Mini Cooper and the Monte Carlo Rally victories of 1964, 1965 and 1967. This space distributes that racing narrative across its entrance, parts wall, moving images and lounge, adding readable design content to the maintenance process. From an oversized model box to performance accessories that can be discussed with specialists, JCW Garage demonstrates a way to bring collectibility, mechanical detail and owner services into one setting.
