New Balance's First Maxey Signature Shoe Debuts, Letting Silhouette Alone Build Its Identity
Tyrese Maxey and New Balance are launching their first signature shoe, the Maxey v1, with an upper drawing on the 2002's lacing design and an outsole line paying homage to the 9060. It drops October 2 for $130.
Instead of relying on oversized logos to make a statement, Tyrese Maxey is letting the shoe's shape speak for itself. New Balance's debut signature model for the 76ers guard, the Maxey v1, skips flashy graphics or giant branding in favor of building identity right into the shoe's structure.
The lacing setup on top of the upper draws from the 2002's design language, while the sculpted outsole lines along the side echo the signature look of the 9060 — merging the DNA of two different running shoe generations into a single basketball silhouette. A wing-shaped New Balance logo sits low-key at the heel, feeling more like a nod to the brand's classic branding than a scene-stealing focal point.
The debut colorway is dubbed "Light Artic Grey/Black," leaning into a soft blue-gray palette while carrying over a blue tag detail — a marker that's set to become the shared identifier across future Maxey v1 colorways, essentially building a consistent visual system for the shoe going forward.
From on-court performance to off-court styling, the Maxey v1 aims to let the player's image and the shoe's design reinforce each other — holding up to the pace of the game while also holding its own on the tunnel walk. That lines up with what Maxey himself wanted from the design: a shoe that gets recognized by its silhouette alone, without needing to stack traditional logos.
The New Balance Maxey v1 "Light Artic Grey/Black" drops October 2, 2026 via NewBalance.com and select retailers. Style code UMAX2NK, priced at $130.
