That glass by the piano is usually white wine. On August 19 at Arena Monterrey in Mexico, as Rosalía sat down at her grand piano to run through her usual ritual before "Sauvignon Blanc," the bottle in her hand had been swapped out for tequila.
The song's signature bit has always been her downing a glass of white wine right before she starts singing. This time she still went through the motion of pouring, but the song took a detour — she broke into an a cappella cover of the intro to Bad Bunny's "Safaera," and the crowd picked it up almost instantly, turning the whole intro into a full-on singalong. The moment was caught on camera and posted by fan account "ROSALÍA SOCIETY."
"Safaera" appears on Bad Bunny's 2020 album YHLQMDLG, featuring Jowell & Randy and Ñengo Flow, and also made an appearance in his Super Bowl halftime show setlist earlier this year. This isn't the only overlap between Rosalía and Bad Bunny — their collaboration "La Noche De Anoche" appeared on Bad Bunny's other 2020 album El Último Tour Del Mundo, and the two also shared the stage on Saturday Night Live back in February 2021.
On the official Monterrey setlist, "Safaera" was slotted in right after "La Perla" and before "Sauvignon Blanc" — essentially turning what would've been the white wine interlude into an impromptu Bad Bunny tribute, before circling back to the original ritual. The rest of the show included tracks like "Overture," "Berghain," "SAOKO," "LA FAMA," and "DESPECHÁ," spanning everything from Lux back to her earlier work.
The tour is in support of her fourth studio album, Lux, released last November, which landed at No. 7 on NME's list of the best albums of 2025. Back in May, Rosalía also used her acceptance speech at the Ivor Novello Awards to call for more voices in the industry beyond "white, middle-class Europeans."
