How to choose UNIQLO’s NT$2,990 cashmere: hand-washing, pilling and seasonal layers
The 2026 autumn/winter range offers 100% cashmere, more than thirty colours across the collection and hand-washing, with individual stock requiring separate checks.
UNIQLO’s seasonal 100% cashmere sweaters focus on hand-washing, a broad palette and finishing intended to reduce pilling. Men’s and women’s crew-neck versions are priced at NT$2,990 in Taiwan. More than thirty colours across the 2026 autumn/winter collection do not mean every style and size is stocked in all thirty. For commuting and weekends, the choice starts before colour: can the owner accommodate the care routine, and will the shape work with existing jackets and trousers?
Hand-washable does not mean unrestricted machine-washing
The official Masterpiece introduction describes repeated adjustment of processing temperature and time to allow natural cashmere to be hand-washed at home while retaining softness. This does not give it the care requirements of an ordinary cotton T-shirt. Read the individual garment’s label for hand-washing, dry-cleaning and drying restrictions. Older years and styles should not automatically inherit the new version’s conditions.
Reducing unnecessary pulling and friction matters when handling knitwear. Supporting the shape after washing and drying flat helps maintain the outline rather than hanging the garment while wet and heavy. Finishing reduces loose fibres and pilling risk without making the sweater permanently pill-free. Backpack straps, jacket linings, elbows and desks create repeated friction; rest and maintenance belong in the routine.
The campaign shows sweaters worn normally and draped over shoulders.
Colour begins with fibres; styling begins with light and dark
The brand describes dyeing before spinning, adjusting processes for raw-material conditions and blending colours to create layered surfaces. Screen swatches may not reveal yarn detail. Compare black, grey and beige with colours such as grape purple, considering their light-and-dark relationship with jackets, complexion and trousers rather than following a colour name alone.
Light and dark grey can create tonal layers, while blue and brown offer contrast. A small amount of T-shirt or shirt showing at the neck and hem separates soft knit from firmer cloth. A short workwear or Harrington jacket and straight trousers make shoulder line, body length and waist position more relevant than prominent branding.
Try length and thickness before deciding what the wardrobe lacks
Cashmere comes from goats’ fine undercoat and is valued for softness and lightness, though knit structure, thickness and personal sensitivity still affect feel. Raise the arms and sit when trying it on. Check whether cuffs fit beneath a jacket and the hem gathers at the waist. If removing and replacing layers throughout the day, assess room both alone and over a shirt.
UNIQLO introduced cashmere sweaters in 2003, with this iteration developing daily care and colour together. NT$2,990 refers to this season’s crew-neck information; current styles, sizes and promotions follow product listings. Images are brand styling examples. A repeatable shape followed by either a neutral continuation or one brighter focal layer is more likely to earn lasting use than collecting the whole range.
Several colours and layered necklines demonstrate knitwear combinations.
