Vacheron Constantin marks 30 years of Overseas with an azure Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin, reference 4300V/220G-H119, limited to 200 pieces worldwide. The 18K white-gold watch measures 41.5mm across and 8.1mm thick, arranging calendar and moon-phase indications within a relatively slender case. Its first new impression comes from colour: a brighter alternative to deep blue gives a densely informative complication a lighter visual expression.
How does light blue hold so much information?
Official dial details include a sunburst centre, a velvet-lacquered outer track and snailed subdials. Different surface finishes separate layers of the same azure colour as the light changes, while white-gold hands and markers establish legible boundaries. A tone-on-tone moon disc integrates the six-o’clock display rather than creating a strongly contrasting dark block.
The perpetual calendar shows day, date, month and leap-year information. For newcomers, the important point is that varying month lengths and the leap-year cycle enter a mechanical calculation; “perpetual” does not mean adjustment is never necessary. Vacheron Constantin specifies calendar accuracy until 2100. This returns the term to a particular set of calendar rules, rather than an unconditional promise of eternity.
Day, date, month and moon phase occupy separate areas of a tonal dial.
What choices come with an ultra-thin movement?
The current official page identifies the self-winding calibre as 1120 QP: 4.05mm thick, with 276 components and a 40-hour power reserve. The transparent back reveals the gold rotor and finishing, and the watch bears the Hallmark of Geneva. Movement thickness and total watch thickness describe different things: one concerns internal construction; the other is the form completed by case, dial and crystal together.

An 8.1mm profile offers another way to pair a complicated watch with a shirt cuff, but a specification table cannot replace trying it on. The 41.5mm diameter, bezel shape and the way the links turn downwards all affect its visual proportions. Thinking of it as an everyday watch means considering materials and straps alongside the calendar functions.

How do three straps change one watch?
The set includes a white-gold bracelet and white and denim-blue rubber straps, using a quick-change system. Alternating polished and satin surfaces on the gold links extend the case’s metallic character; rubber carries the dial colour into more casual combinations. None changes the movement, but each can substantially alter the watch’s apparent weight and visual centre on the wrist.

The model retains 5-bar, approximately 50m water resistance and magnetic protection, but the Overseas sporting appearance alone does not make it a professional diving watch. What matters in the anniversary version is how established complications meet a new palette. The azure dial attracts attention without adding information, using surface finishing and different ways of wearing the watch to invite a fresh reading of its familiar perpetual-calendar structure.
