Xbox 把《Gears of War: E-Day》戰場刻進手把,兩款設計各賭一種手感

Same game, but this time Xbox is offering two completely different tactile philosophies. One molds the battlefield's texture directly onto the controller; the other treats an illustrator's linework as a blank canvas. Both point toward the upcoming 'Gears of War: E-Day,' but they play by different rules.

Let's start with the standard edition. This controller uses 3D molding and laser etching, drawing inspiration from the series' iconic "emergence hole" scenes, with a textured surface replicating cracked asphalt. The D-pad and face buttons get a translucent red treatment, matched by red triggers — leaning heavily into recreating the grime of the game world. Alongside this controller, Xbox is also launching an 8BitDo charging dock, so the peripheral stays topped up even on standby.

The other option takes a completely different route — an Xbox Design Lab custom controller featuring exclusive Lancer rifle artwork by metal illustrator Luke Preece. This version ditches the standard edition's asphalt texture and dimensional detailing in favor of a clean, image-forward canvas. Players can still customize the triggers and buttons further, but the overall language shifts from "recreating the battlefield" to "showcasing the artwork."

Both controllers are set to debut at Gamescom on August 25. The 3D-molded version is available for pre-order now, while the Design Lab custom edition goes live on September 30. 'Gears of War: E-Day' itself is slated for official release on October 6, 2026.
