Beyerdynamic Aventho Y Launches: $150 Gets You 90 Hours of Battery Life and Swappable Batteries

Beyerdynamic Aventho Y Launches: $150 Gets You 90 Hours of Battery Life and Swappable Batteries

90 hours — that's how long a single charge lasts on Beyerdynamic's new Aventho Y with active noise cancellation turned off. Switch on ANC, and that number drops to 60 hours. It might sound like a trade-off, but by over-ear headphone standards, that's still a solid figure. Fast charging is another handy detail: just five minutes plugged in gets you six hours of listening time.

What really sets these headphones apart is that the battery itself can be swapped out by users. The ear pads are also replaceable, and the sliding rail and hinge structure are designed so that wear-prone parts can be replaced individually instead of forcing you to buy a whole new pair when something wears out. Beyerdynamic's official stance is that they want users to "replace high-wear components, not the entire headset." This design philosophy mirrors the brand's flagship MMX 230, which also features a user-replaceable battery.

As for accessories, Beyerdynamic includes a boom mic and a Wi-Fi-capable USB-C dongle with the Aventho Y — the dongle can be tucked away right under the ear cup, so there's no need to find somewhere else to stash it. Connectivity-wise, it supports Bluetooth 6.0 multipoint, making it easy to switch between different audio sources. A longer USB-C cable is included as well, usable both for charging and as a wired listening option. The headphones also come with a dedicated app offering EQ presets sorted by music genre, and firmware updates are handled through the app too.

The Aventho Y is available in four colors, priced at $150.
