Can't Guess at Booking Anymore: United Launches New Tool to Check if Your Flight Has Starlink Wi-Fi
United has rolled out a tracking tool that lets you enter your flight number and date to check whether Starlink satellite internet is onboard. So far, 635 aircraft have been equipped, covering about half of daily flights.
You booked your ticket but have no idea if the plane has Starlink—that's exactly the problem this new tool aims to solve. United's tracker lets passengers enter their flight number and departure date up to three days before takeoff to find out if that specific flight is equipped with Starlink satellite Wi-Fi, with real-time updates even if there's a last-minute aircraft swap.
United announced its partnership with SpaceX's Starlink back in September 2024, with testing kicking off in January 2025. Now, the airline reports that 635 aircraft across its United mainline and United Express fleets have completed Starlink installation, with the service currently available on nearly half of all daily flights.
In the past, United would notify passengers via email and text before departure about whether their flight had Starlink, but that information wasn't always updated in time when aircraft got swapped at the last minute. The new tool is designed to fill that gap—beyond checking individual flights, users can also see how many regional jets, narrow-body, and wide-body aircraft currently offer the service, as well as browse the Starlink flight distribution at major hub airports including Chicago, Newark, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, and Denver.
According to Starlink Flights, a site that tracks Starlink coverage across airlines, United currently leads the pack with the most equipped flights. The airline says it's adding Starlink to about 20 aircraft per week, with a goal of outfitting its entire fleet by the end of 2027. Other airlines currently offering Starlink inflight Wi-Fi include Emirates, Qatar Airways, WestJet, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), Alaska Airlines, and Air France.
