Boox Palma 3 Switches to Aluminum Body, Yet Costs $60 Less Than Predecessor

Boox just dropped three new E Ink devices at once, and the standout is its pocket-sized e-reader Palma 3, which upgrades from a plastic shell to an anodized aluminum body—yet drops the price from $380 to $320, all while adding support for the InkSense Plus stylus.

Material upgrades usually come with a price hike, but Boox is doing the opposite this time. The new Palma 3 swaps out the previous model's plastic shell for an anodized aluminum body, yet it's priced at $320 on the official site—a full $60 cheaper than last year's Boox Palma 2 Pro.

The Palma 3 features a 6.13-inch HD E Ink display with dual-tone front lighting, 128GB of built-in storage, and a microSD card slot that expands capacity up to 2TB. Like the Palma 2 Pro, this pocket reader supports the Boox InkSense Plus stylus, letting users jot notes directly on the page while reading, with notes syncing to the cloud automatically. Battery capacity sits at 3950mAh, which Boox says is enough for several days of reading—though heavy use of the 16-megapixel rear camera for document scanning will noticeably drain the battery faster. The camera comes with a built-in flash, and the device also packs dual microphones for voice memos or speech-to-text. It runs on Android 16 with the Google Play Store pre-installed. The Palma 3 is now listed on Boox's official site in black and white color options, though it's not yet available for purchase; the stylus is sold separately for $46.

As part of the same launch, Boox also unveiled the 10.3-inch Note Air6 C, headlined by its large color E Ink display and a new feature called Dual Notes, which lets users view two documents side by side and annotate each separately—no more switching back and forth between screens. The device supports the Boox Pen3 stylus and offers an optional keyboard cover accessory that connects via pogo pins. The Note Air6 C is available for purchase now, priced at $580 without the keyboard or $657 bundled with the keyboard cover.

Rounding out the lineup is the Note Mini C, built for people who need to work on the go. It features an 8.52-inch color E Ink panel, a power button with built-in fingerprint recognition, and comes bundled with a stylus. Boox says the device can connect to enterprise tools like Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Slack, and OneDrive. It's currently listed as "coming soon" on the official site, priced at $550.
