The day she got her masters back, the first thing Lucy Dacus did was add in a song she'd written on sticky notes and napkins ten years ago but never put on the album. Titled "No Thank You, I Love You, Goodbye," the track is the only new addition to the 10th-anniversary reissue of her 2016 debut, "No Burden."

In a lengthy post on social media, Dacus looked back on writing these songs at a time when she "didn't even call herself a musician yet" — bouncing between jobs at a movie theater box office, editing school yearbooks, and waiting tables, all to scrape together her $195 monthly share of rent for a room she split with two friends. The lyrics came to her during breaks between shifts, scrawled on sticky notes or napkins; she'd hum the melody on her walk home and work out the guitar part right before bed. "I figured no one would ever hear them, maybe 50 people tops — and those 50 people would know who they were about."

Listening back to the album now, she noticed that back then she "hadn't really found her voice yet," and her accent was more Southern than it is today. "It makes me wonder if I've been unconsciously smoothing it out, which is kind of a sad thought." She mentioned the whole thing was recorded in just one day, and that with more time, she might have found a more settled sound — "for better or worse."

"No Thank You, I Love You, Goodbye" was written during that same period as "No Burden," and now closes out the reissue, which also comes with new cover art.

Beyond the reissue, Dacus also stepped in for a last-minute set at Seattle's Bumbershoot festival — filling the slot originally meant for Japanese Breakfast, who dropped out due to pregnancy. On stage, Dacus paid tribute by covering Michelle Zauner's "Paprika."

Dacus's latest solo album, "Forever Is A Feeling," came out last year. Earlier this year, she also joined Hayley Williams onstage at the Newport Folk Festival alongside Jack Antonoff, Jenny Lewis, Remi Wolf, and Wednesday's Karly Hartzman and Joy Oladokun. Last August, she performed "Read My Mind" with The Killers at Montreal's Osheaga festival, and joined Chappell Roan for a rendition of The Magnetic Fields' "The Book of Love" at a benefit concert for Sudan and Palestine organized by Mustafa. At August's Outside Lands festival, she also brought out Boygenius bandmate Julien Baker to perform "Bullseye" together.
