YOSHIROTTEN’s Heliocentric Light Opens in Tennozu This November
Gallery Chidousetsu will bring together SUN prints, Tranthrow paintings and The Earth from November 25 to January 16, with a winter closure across New Year.
YOSHIROTTEN will present Heliocentric Light, titled 光の地動説 in Japanese, at Gallery Chidousetsu in Tokyo’s Tennozu area from November 25, 2026 to January 16, 2027. N&A announced it on October 29, with curators Fumio Nanjo and Miwa Kutsuna and cooperation from Sony Music Entertainment. SUN, Tranthrow and The Earth provide routes into light, celestial bodies and perception. This forthcoming gallery exhibition is separate from the artist’s BEYOND EARTH show at TOKYO NODE; their venues and visiting information should not be confused.
Seeing light beyond a human backdrop
The curatorial statement moves light beyond its role as illumination for people. Light acts on living beings and matter, continually changing the world. The title invokes the shift in viewpoint associated with heliocentrism to reconsider relationships among the sun, Earth and perception. It offers an entry into the exhibition, rather than suggesting that the artworks propose a new astronomical theory or require visitors to identify scientific models.
One approach is to watch how you read light and form before seeking a definitive meaning in abstract colour: where does an area seem to glow, which colour field holds your attention, and how does the image evoke natural phenomena? This is a viewing suggestion, not an account of a gallery that has yet to open. The released key visual combines red-orange fields with exhibition lettering; it is promotional design, not a photograph of an installed work.
Prints, paintings and a cross-disciplinary practice
The announced selection includes prints from SUN, The Earth and the Tranthrow paintings previously presented in FUTURE NATURE II In Kagoshima at the Kirishima Open-Air Museum in 2024. Tranthrow therefore has an earlier exhibition context; the list should not be treated as entirely newly made work. Bringing print and painting together provides different material routes through the artist’s ongoing exploration of light and colour.
Born in Kagoshima in 1983, YOSHIROTTEN works across graphics, moving images, space, music and fashion, and leads the creative studio YAR in advertising and art direction. N&A describes making the invisible visible as a central concern, connecting natural phenomena, digital technology, research and imagination. That background explains his movement between commerce and art, but does not establish that this show will contain projections, interactive technology or large immersive installations. Its actual formats remain those announced for this exhibition.

Tennozu dates and winter closures
Hours are noon to 6pm, with closure on Sundays, Mondays and Japanese public holidays. An additional winter closure runs from December 27, 2026 through January 11, 2027. Although the exhibition spans New Year, it does not open every day over the holiday; do not plan solely from the first and last dates on the poster. The announcement does not state an admission price, so an omitted fee is not presented here as free entry.
Gallery Chidousetsu is at G1 Building 101, 2-6-4 Higashi-Shinagawa, Shinagawa, Tokyo. The organiser lists an approximately seven-minute walk from either Tokyo Monorail or Rinkai Line Tennozu Isle Station. All hours are Japanese local time. Treat this as a distinct chapter alongside the artist’s other exhibitions, check closure dates and current gallery notices, and bring attention to materials, earlier contexts and your own perception rather than expecting a promised technological spectacle.
