Nethermind will no longer be validating cross-chain messages for LayerZero, shifting instead to a different infrastructure camp. The Ethereum engineering firm says it's joining Chainlink as a node operator, with work focused on two fronts: helping maintain the cross-chain interoperability protocol CCIP, and supporting the secure operation of its Data Feeds price service.
Compared to its previous role, Nethermind had served as a verifier within the LayerZero ecosystem, responsible for confirming the accuracy of cross-chain messages. Now, having switched to Chainlink, its role becomes that of a node operator—shifting from message verification to directly participating in network operations and securing data transmission.
Nethermind's current public statement only covers the role change itself, without mentioning the reason for the switch, effective timing, or related arrangements.
