Wonjin’s Mangsangrok: 11 Tracks, 42 Minutes and the Full Creative Roles
The Balming Tiger member’s first solo album arrived October 20. Explore the sequence, advance-single dates, Yuranga’s video and the musicians behind an individually led release.
Balming Tiger member Wonjin has released his first solo full-length album, Mangsangrok, gathering expanding thoughts and unease across 11 songs. Korean platform Bugs lists an October 20 release, a duration of 42:01 and Balming Tiger and CAM as the production companies. The full sequence and musician credits reveal the division of work behind an individually named release.
Eleven tracks, with the advance singles returned to the album
The formal English sequence on international platforms is Sekai, Yuranga, Like.., Candy, Good Day, Ice King, Feeling, We, Mustang, Hera and Carpet. Korean services use Korean titles: track two, 유랑가, corresponds to Yuranga, and track six, 겨울왕자, to Ice King. Search Wonjin or 원진 to identify the same album, rather than reading different language displays as additional tracks.
Candy arrived on September 22, followed by Ice King on October 7. Release material describes title track Yuranga through a character who considers himself carefree and cool but becomes awkward in matters of affection. Jan’ Qui and San Yawn jointly directed its video. Returning the two familiar advance tracks to the full sequence also separates the singles’ promotional focus from the album’s actual arrangement.
Led by Wonjin, with collaborators’ work kept in the credits
The official credits name Wonjin as producer and list vocals, keyboards, drums, guitar, bass and flute among his roles across several songs. These entries show how a voice within a collective moves towards a project under individual direction. They also retain shared authorship: opener Sekai credits Wonjin and Chawool as composers, Wonjin and Jin Sil as arrangers, with additional vocals by Chawool and guitar by Jin Sil.
The official Mangsangrok cover retains its original black-and-white grain and blur.
Other tracks assemble different teams. Candy includes guitar by Seokyoung Haam, drums by JOE sungjoon and bass by Mulsoo. We includes drums by Jeon Iljun, saxophone by sungjae son and additional vocals by Chawool. Those roles clarify what a solo album means here: a clear creative leader alongside musicians, arrangement and recording collaborators. The artist field alone cannot identify the performer of every part.
Korean psychedelia and a deliberately indistinct face
According to the release introduction, the project looks towards East Asian and Korean psychedelic music of the 1960s and 1970s, bringing older vocal phrasing and romantic feeling into contemporary production. Korean rhythm and nuance provide the lyrical axis, interspersed with English, Japanese and internet memes. Anxiety, self-pity and performed coolness enter a black-comic character narrative.
The official cover is a grainy, motion-blurred black-and-white facial close-up, contrasting with publicity photographs of grassy slopes, trees and horses. All relate to this release, but their shooting circumstances are not further identified. Album credits also list Hong Taesik for artwork and photography, Hong Chanhee for design and Lee Sanghyun for calligraphy. Begin with the official 11-track sequence, then revisit the advance singles and Yuranga’s imagery to connect the songs, visual identity and creative collaborations.
