The Tokyo Station Hotel’s Christmas cakes pair three origins of chestnut with more than 30 strawberries
The Tokyo Station Hotel is taking Christmas cake reservations, with collection on five December dates. Compare the chestnut-chocolate and strawberry cakes, yen prices and smaller guest-only versions.
The Tokyo Station Hotel has announced its 2026 Christmas cakes, taking chestnut and chocolate in one direction and strawberries with cream in another. Reservations for takeaway cakes have been open since October 1 and run until December 13. Collection is scheduled only for December 19, 20, 23, 24 and 25, rather than throughout the month. Travellers planning dessert around a Tokyo visit should match those dates to their itinerary before choosing a whole takeaway cake or a smaller version available exclusively to staying guests.
Strawberry or chestnut: how do the cakes differ?
The Christmas strawberry shortcake costs JPY 8,800. This size-five cake measures 15 cm in diameter and 11 cm high, with three to five servings suggested by the hotel. More than 30 Japanese strawberries appear on top and between the sponge layers, including a heart-shaped slice hidden among the decorations. Hokkaido cream accompanies sponge made with Columbus no Cha Tamago eggs. Visually, its impact comes from piled red fruit against white cream, rather than elaborate icing sculpture.
The size-five takeaway strawberry cake uses Japanese strawberries on top and between layers.
The Mont Blanc Chocolat costs JPY 8,300. This size-four cake is 12 cm in diameter and 12 cm high, suggested for two to four people. Chestnuts from Japan, France and Italy appear in the tart base, filling or decorations, while piped chocolate-chestnut paste creates a knitted-looking exterior. The cutaway photograph reveals a tart base and layered fillings; the official description includes crème brûlée and caramel mousse. Rum is also used, so the cake should not be assumed to be a children's chestnut dessert.

Add a savoury party set to a whole takeaway cake
The hotel's website also explicitly lists alcohol in the strawberry cake, making neither cake an alcohol-free choice by default. Both contain ingredients including wheat, egg and milk. Anyone with dietary restrictions can check with the hotel before ordering. In visual terms, the strawberry cake creates a festive impression through fruit density, while the Mont Blanc emphasises piped relief and layered cross-sections. This comparison is based on product information and photographs, rather than a tasting.

Cake buyers can add a Christmas Party Set for JPY 6,800, serving three to four people and limited to 50 sets. Its five hors d'oeuvres include Japanese Black beef roast, smoked salmon salad, shrimp with broccoli, pâté de campagne with pickled vegetables, and cuttlefish with small scallops. It is a separately paid option, not included in the cake price or a regular savoury box that can be purchased on its own. It suits those already ordering a cake who want to prepare more of the meal together.
How do booking, collection and the guest-only cakes work?
Takeaway orders require online credit-card prepayment. Collection on each of the five dates is from noon to 7 pm in front of Bar & Café Camellia on the hotel's second floor, at 1-9-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. There is no collection on December 21 or 22. The stated takeaway prices include tax, and reservations may close before December 13 if the allocation is reached. Visit the official Camellia Christmas cake page for the ordering link, and follow the hotel's instruction to consume the cake on the collection day.
Guests with an accommodation reservation can instead order size-three mini cakes delivered to their room from December 18 to 25. Both are 9 cm in diameter: the strawberry version costs JPY 5,800 and the Mont Blanc Chocolat JPY 6,200, including service, with five of each available per day. Orders must be made at least a week before the stay, within a reservation period ending December 18. The deadline, size and delivery method differ from takeaway orders. For two people travelling together, checking the hotel booking and delivery date before comparing portions is more useful than simply lining up prices from different schemes.
