A mushroom lamp with a personality: OKA Mori opens US First Access orders at $649

Singapore-based OKA’s Mori responds through light, sound and small movements rather than spoken conversation. US First Access costs $649; here are the shipping limits, estimated delivery and subscription terms.

A mushroom lamp with a personality: OKA Mori opens US First Access orders at $649

If a mushroom-shaped table lamp can lift its cap, reveal its eyes and respond with small movements, is it still simply lighting? OKA, founded by Wesley Chen and Hua Wang, is exploring that domestic companion through Mori. The seller, OKA TECHNOLOGY PTE. LTD., is based in Singapore, and its current first-batch offer targets the US market. This is neither an American brand nor a globally shipped product. The First Access device price is USD 649, with tax and shipping charged separately.

Does Mori talk? Interaction through light and movement

Mori does not speak in words. It communicates through sounds, movement, light and expressions. A glowing cap sits above a rounded, textile-covered body, with eyes and a camera visible between them; human-like limbs are not needed to establish a character. The company describes a companion robot that gradually remembers people and interaction habits. That is the brand's account of its system, rather than evidence that every unit has undergone independent long-term testing.

Two modes particularly distinguish it from a voice assistant. Patting its head lets it retract its cap, reduce its reactions and become a quieter light. Placing both hands on its base starts a guided breathing experience. Nature Time combines environmental sound and soft light around nature themes, changing through morning, afternoon, dusk and late night. The aim is to offer a rhythm for pausing, rather than perform household chores; it does not establish a medical treatment effect.

A table-lamp scale, and what happens to data?

The official model is ARTIFACT-01, with a maximum diameter of 20.91 cm, a height varying from 26.4 to 29.8 cm and a stated weight of 1.5 to 2 kg. It supports 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with a 37.7 Wh battery and up to about 2.5 hours to reach an 80% charge. These are size and charging specifications, not a battery-life guarantee. The company also advises a dry, flat and stable indoor position away from water and heat.

OKA says that data Mori senses is processed on the device and not sent to the cloud. This is the brand's privacy-design statement, not a security audit conducted by this publication; purchase and account information is handled separately under its privacy policy. In design terms, the soft shell, retractable face and non-verbal responses shift technology from something demanding repeated commands towards an object able to reduce its presence. Suitability still depends on living with it, rather than judging by its appealing shape alone.

What does $649 include, and when might it arrive?

The official Mori product page currently lists First Access at USD 649 against a USD 849 reference device price. Payment is made in full at checkout, with one unit per email address. Shipping covers the 48 contiguous US states and Washington, DC, excluding Alaska, Hawaii and US territories. The main product listing and applicable sales addendum currently estimate delivery in late December 2026. That is not a guaranteed date; the estimate shown before payment and in the order confirmation remains the point to check.

The first-batch offer includes two years of Nature Time from first successful activation. It does not automatically become a paid subscription when that period ends. Any future paid option requires separate consent, and basic device functions do not require a paid plan. Buyers should distinguish the device, content service and delivery: USD 649 is not an all-inclusive worldwide delivered price, and two years of content is not permanent free access to everything. For US readers, confirming the address, final cost and estimated arrival makes it possible to consider what place this small companion might have in everyday life.
